For his ‘Sofa Journeys’ Josef Trattner uses readily transportable foam rubber sofas he designed himself. In the summer of 2012 he travelled to Romania, met up with authors who were either resident or knew the place well, talked with them and invited them to join his sofa-walks and -lectures in public space. He now documents this intense journey through the heart of a still unknown country with contributions by the authors and his own photographs. The sedentary piece of seating, carried by the artist and his authors, becomes a metaphor of their existence.
