EDITORIAL
For more than 20 years, we, the publishers and staff at SCHLEBRÜGGE.EDITOR, have been pursuing our original concept: working with artists and authors to design and publish books that represent independent, authentic realizations of artistic concepts and decisions. To this day, we remain a publishing house of artists and a publishing house for them. We work in Vienna and can also offer younger artists in Austria the opportunity to publish in a program environment that provides them with artistic, historical, and theoretical contexts and references that extend beyond Austria.
In the market for art and artist books, we stand for a small, sophisticated program that seeks coherence, is internationally oriented, and develops the perspectives of contemporary art, its political-critical as well as its theoretical positions. The program has always grown: architecture, photography, aesthetic theory, the tradition of modernism in the 20th century, design, contemporary history. The Essay series explores the boundaries of this open genre.
