Japanese artist Rinko Kawauchi’s photographs captivate us with a visual language that is at once familiar and universal. The artist examines the extraordinary in the everyday, exploring fundamental aspects of the cycle of life and the seemingly haphazard structure of nature. Her perspective presents the world as one of mesmerizing beauty; her photographs are visual manifestations of reflections on being-in-the-world. (Verena Kaspar-Eisert)
In its capacity as a micromuseum, MuseumQuartier Vienna’s Sternenpassage highlights artists whose work broadly relates to photography. Artists are commissioned to create pieces specially for the passage. Each resulting series is presented across four illuminated circular display cases mounted on the walls, and accompanied by astrophotography. Lumen Zine is a miniature catalogue supplementing exhibitions at Sternenpassage.
