Oswald Oberhuber / Gisela Stiegler

This catalogue documents a joint exhibition of selected works by Oswald Oberhuber and Gisela Stiegler at the rauminhalt_harald bichler gallery in Vienna from summer 2018. The project is rooted in the long-lasting friendship that connects both artists. The gallery provided the setting for a first physical encounter between their works, combining two and three-dimensional objects. They stand side by side without judging one another or demanding direct comparison—just like a good friendship. The joint exhibition aimed rather to broaden our perception of their work; the generous serenity becomes apparent in the suggested formfinding process that distinguishes Oswald Oberhuber as a great master as well as Gisela Stiegler’s powerful design of her volumes oscillating between biomorphism and abstraction and conveying wit and vibrancy.
