Marko Lulić
Death of the Monument
Marko Lulic's work builds on an experience familiar from pop, from pop music and pop culture as a whole. Originality, this experience tells us, is never to be had from the ground up, that is, authentically; it is instead the result of appropriation of the existing, of adaptation and reinterpretation. The artist of today is not singular but rather exemplary, and he goes to work with the awareness that aesthetic choices include one thing above all: One can choose whom or what one resembles; one cannot choose to resemble no one and nothing.
